These Crispy Baked Fries are oil free and super tasty. Serve them with a Mushroom Bacon Veggie Sandwich for a filling and satisfying meal.
I make these Crispy Baked Fries often, as a snack or as a side to a meal and my family loves them! The fact that they are pre-cooked is what helps make them so yummy. When you roll them around in the spices the precooked ends break up and the fries even break into smaller fries. That is OK, it makes them super yummy and crispy.

Crispy Baked Fries -oil free-
I originally saw the idea for making pre-baked fries on The Brand New Vegan’s site. My take on the recipe is to just throw in spices that I like and by using nutritional yeast they are crispy and gluten free.

The recipe is listed below the video I recorded of me preparing them on the fly along with a Mushroom Bacon Veggie Sandwich.

- I pre-bake my potatoes in a Potato Express because it takes only about 8-9 minutes to cook 5-6 potatoes.
- Nutritional yeast is the key to this recipe. If you have a Winco near by they have a great price on bulk nutritional yeast. Otherwise, online offers a good deal for large orders.
- You don’t have to spend a lot on smoked paprika but the really cheap stuff tastes bitter. Mccormick and Simply Organic are both very flavorful while also being economical. I buy both of these brands, organic only.
- I prefer to cook oil free when possible. To achieve crisp fries without oil I use a silicone baking sheet.

- Pre-bake 5 potatoes
- Once potatoes are cool to the touch cut them in half. Let cool fully.
- While the potatoes cool, mix the spices together, adjust to taste as needed. Pour into a large bowl.
- Once the potatoes are cooled, cut into wedges. If desired remove the skin. Pour into the large bowl with the spices.
- Put a plate over the bowl and toss around. The potatoes will break up a bit, that is ok.
- Turn the oven onto broil. Pour the potatoes onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet. Place into the oven on the middle rack and cook until brown, watch closely. Flip the potatoes over and cook until brown.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot. ENJOY!
